Longest Post Ever. Sorry.

Is it just me or did it not seem like Christmas this year? Me and my dad agreed that for some reason it just didn't feel like Christmas... But I do have some good news, I went on a fantastic road trip about two weeks ago. I will now elaborate on the happenings of "The Roadtrip".

Monday, December 15
After a long day of waiting around and wasting time trying to do something, anything productive, I headed off to Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, TX. I parked my car in this sketchy satellite lot and waited for Wes to come pick me up. Little did I know, the shuttle bus that was parked a few cars down thought I was going to catch a ride with him... He waited for a solid ten minutes and then proceeded to drive around me honking and giving me nasty looks until I finally succeeded in communicating that I wasn't rolling with him. Me and Wes then made the short drive to Lake Jackson where after a Sloppy Joe and a stop by Academy we were off to pick up Borden.

Tuesday, December 16
We drove all night. ALL NIGHT. It wasn't that bad though, the high of being on a roadtrip and being away from College Station hadn't quite worn off. After a quick stop at the New Mexico state line, we decided to stop by White Sands National Park. We did some sledding down the dunes and then continued to drive, and drive, and drive some more. During one of those hours I found out that I made my first 4.0. That's right, I'm not an idiot! We ended that night at Lake Mead where Wes, myself, Pick, Greg and Josh all spooned ourselves into a four person tent. Ryan wasn't as okay with all of the man touching and decided to sleep in the car.

Wednesday, December 17
After a tour of the Hoover Dam (insert dam joke here), we headed off to Las Vegas. We got to our hotel (The Mirage) and got settled in and then headed out for lunch at Margaritaville. A nap and some gambling (by those of legal age of course) followed before we all showered and headed downstairs to see Love, Cirque du Soleil's magnificent tribute to The Beatles. We walked around in the first snow in 30 years in Vegas and then proceeded to the Eiffel Tower Restaurant. I have never felt more out of place.

Thursday, December 18
We decided to be gung ho and get up at 6:30 so that we could get to Ventura before noon and have a half a day to hang out with Josh's grandparents and get to see the sights. Little did we know that an 18-wheeler thought it would be a great idea to turn over and spill its entire load of diesel on I-10 (nobody was injured). That paired with the snow shut down EVERY road from Las Vegas to California. We decided to head back to the strip and walk around. I'm glad we did, we got to see some cool stuff. After a 9 hour trip (it should have been 4) we pulled into the Cole's driveway. That's right 14 and a half hours after waking up we got to our destination.

Friday, December 19
Off to LA. We drove through Malibu, found a dead seal (allegedly attacked by a great white), drove through Pepperdine University and Beverly Hills, walked Rodeo Dr. and ate at Snoop Dogg's favorite restaurant Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles. We did a little more sight seeing and then headed to the taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live... Adam Sandler was disappointingly not funny, but Fall Out Boy was well worth the wait. We also made our second trip to In-n-Out Burger.

Saturday, You get the point
We went to the most beautiful park I have ever been to. Amazing grass, surrounded by mountains, trails everywhere, incredible. I almost died. Greg, Ryan and Wes are way too athletic for me to try and follow them up trails on the mountains. I guilted Pick into walking down with me where we played some frisbee and then went to eat lunch. Then I was off to LAX.

Sunday, 4:30 a.m.
After two flights, a lay over in Vegas, a 14 year old girl sleeping on my shoulder all the way from Vegas to Houston, my luggage getting lost, filing a lost luggage claim, getting lost and driving all the way around Houston on 610, and getting pulled over in Navasota, I was home.
